Georgia Pop & Horror Booth Bitch Aug 1-4 (Columbus, GA)

801 Front Ave
compensation: 20/hr
employment type: contract
job title: Book Sales Associate
*Non-nerds need not apply*

Atlanta SciFi author looking for someone who can be my eyes and ears during the Pop & Horror Con at Columbus Convention and Trade Center August 1st-4th. Columbus is a bit far for me to be gone for 3 days away from my twin babies. I need someone who can man my booth, talk about the books, essentially I am building a fandom, so you need to be able to talk nerd culture, or specifically at this Con, Horror culture.

If I enjoy working with you, there will be plenty of other cons, including Multiverse Con Oct 18-20 when I will have a lot of panels to attend. If the title of this posting offends you, we probably won't get along :) A lot of hours on your feet, talking to strangers -some on the spectrum- so if you're shy and think this is a gig where you can sit and make purchases, this probably isn't for you either.

Responsibilities Include:
-Interacting with Con-guests
-Handing out bookmarks
-Encouraging people to sign up for email subscription
-Entering people to win free prizes
-And of course -SELLING BOOKS
-Help with Set up on Thursday Evening with me.
-Help with breakdown Sunday evening, loading and unloading from car.

Of course you will get bathroom breaks, but keep them limited, as you have to take certain items down to keep from getting stolen, or I just make friends with the booths next door to watch our for one another as is Con etiquette. I will provide whatever food/drinks/snacks you need (Just let me know what you prefer) As most of the con food has long lines and quite frankly, SUCKS.

Thursday evening or Friday morning 1hr set up/meet-and-greet: *Still waiting on assigned time*
Friday: 4pm-10pm
Sat: 9am-7pm (I will be with you, but not for the full day)
Sun: 9am-6pm

  • Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster.
